Wood Partners - Alta Winter Garden

Alta Winter Garden Case Study

Alta Winter Garden is located at 1223 E. Plant St., approximately 15 miles from downtown Orlando. The property offers 250 units, spread out in 5 buildings, ranging from 637 square feet to 1,464 square feet. Individual units feature energy-efficient stainless steel Whirlpool appliances, Nest thermostats, electronic door locks with keyless entry, outlets with USB ports, kitchen islands, wood-style plank flooring and oversized balconies in select units.

The controlled-access community’s amenities include a walk-in pool with a sun shelf and poolside cabanas, as well as a game room and a fitness center with a virtual training room and TRX equipment. Other amenities include an outdoor pavilion with a beer tap and summer kitchen, a pet park, a beer garden, rentable private office pods, study spaces with Wi-Fi, an outdoor lounge area, private detached garages and valet waste services.

Project Challenges:

  • Wood Partners needed to provide Public Safety Wireless DAS inside their multifamily complex
  • The RF engineering design needed to accommodate 8 multi-story buildings spaciously separated on a large plot
  • The system needed to be integrated within a tight construction timeline to support the new arrival of residents

Solutions:

  • TWTSC integrated a Comba Telecom Critical Point™ Public Safety Fiber DAS system to provide thorough coverage throughout all buildings
  • Comba’s 700/800MHz Fiber DAS Series Master Unit and 4 remote units were used

Orange County Public Schools - Westpointe Elementary School

OCPS Westpointe

Westpointe shares a campus with Metro West because of issues with the scarcity of suitable land. Orange County schools require a minimum acreage, depending on whether the school is for elementary-, middle- or high school-age students. Westpointe’s campus consists of six buildings — five of which belonged to MetroWest’s campus — totaling 90,000 square feet. The new building houses the kindergarten and third-grade classrooms, as well as administration, the cafeteria and the media center.

Westpointe is equipped with interactive touch-panel SMART televisions in each classroom, audio enhancement so teachers can be heard without raising their voices and campus-wide Wi-Fi. A CCTV studio in the media center will allow students to learn video production skills and have a morning-announcements program.

Project Challenges:

  • OCPS adopted higher standards for student/teacher safety on campus, necessitating an emergency responder radio enhancement system (ERRES)
  • The RF engineering design has to provide 100% coverage in all occupied areas across the 6 building campus
  • The system needed to be integrated around the school’s schedule and strict COVID-19 policies

Solutions:

  • An ADRF ADXV Headend with ADRF Public Safety-rated components was integrated
  • TWTSC was able to meet all of OCPS’s engineering specifications for student safety during a challenging worldwide pandemic
